Fernie (population of approximately 5,500) is situated in the Southeastern region of British Columbia only five kilometers from the world-class Fernie Alpine Resort. Fernie Secondary School has a population of approximately 400 students. Fernie Secondary School, built in 1998, offers a variety of courses for grades 7 through 12.  We try to offer a solid academic program as well as a variety of electives including shops, home economics, and fine arts courses.  We support students with a variety of needs through Aboriginal support, Alternate Ed, Special Ed. and Learning Assistance programs.  Fernie Secondary is in its fourth year of supporting the late French Immersion Program.

We also have a number of individual as well as team sports for both male and female athletes.  Over Fernie Secondary history we have had successful teams at all levels of competition. 

We believe social responsibility is an important value.  Our school participates in the Be the Change Program, Zero Waste, Lifesavers, as well as other student lead initiatives.  We would be more than happy to respond to inquiries and welcome the opportunity to give you a tour of the building.
